v2 Super Momrio: Leveling Up in the Game of Parenting
Welcome to Super Momrio: the Game of Parenting!

Parenting is the ultimate video game. You start off with zero experience, no manual, and plenty of obstacles. Just when you think you’ve mastered a level, a new one appears—harder, faster, and with even more challenges.

Welcome to Super Momrio, where every day feels like a mix of dodging fireballs, collecting coins, and trying not to fall into lava. Some days, you’re dodging tantrums and unlocking hidden snacks; other days, you’re stuck in the lava pit of bedtime negotiations.

"It is far from the truth that there are only two versions of Super Momrio game: Super Working Momrio vs. Super Stay-at-Home Momrio. Every Mom is playing her own version of game. Each mom's situation is different, each kid is different, each family's support system is different, and what makes each of us happy in life is different. Hence, there's no need to compare yourself with other Moms. We all play a different version of Super Momrio game.❤️" - Jing C.

Super Momrio Lyrics

In the morning light, it starts anew. She's got her cape on, with a kid in view. Level up. It's another day. Momrio's mission, come with me.
Power ups, with love and care, every challenge she's always there. Coins collected, lives began, Super Momrio, never the same.
Level up, power through, Super Momrio, that’s what we do! Dodging tantrums, bedtime too, saving the day with a coffee or two!
Jumping hurdles, making moves, boss fights come, but we refuse! Super Momrio, we’ve got the groove. Every day’s a win. We always improve!

Super Momrio: What are the Player Modes?

As moms, we’re playing in two modes: Day-to-Day Player Mode, where each task is a mini-level, and Age-Based Player Mode, where every new stage of parenting throws a fresh boss fight your way. Let me show you what it’s like to navigate a day in Super Momrio while leveling up through life.

Day-to-Day Player Mode

Every day in Super Momrio starts with its own challenges, power-ups, and—let’s face it—some epic fails.

  • 5:30 AM: The Power-Up Time. Prepare for the chaos ahead and collect extra life.
  • 6:30 AM: The All-About-Momrio Time. Finding a secret treasure chest—just me, my ideas, and blissful quiet.
  • 7:30 AM: The Morning Rush. Missing socks and breakfast demands test my problem-solving skills.
  • 8:00 AM: The Drop-off Dash. Navigating car seats and daycare runs.
  • 8:45 AM: The Meeting Overload. A gauntlet of meetings and deadlines that tests my focus.
  • 5:00 PM: The Pick-up Quest. Convincing kids to leave the playground next to daycare is like extracting Mario from a warp pipe: possible, but tricky.
  • 5:30 PM: The Dinner Time Hustle. Battling The Hungry Horde (a.k.a. ravenous kids) while chopping veggies and fielding dinosaur trivia.
  • 8:00 PM: The Bedtime Adventures. The ultimate boss fight featuring stalling tactics like “I need water” and “One more story.”

Before you know it, it's another day.

Age-Based Player Mode

Just when you think you’ve mastered one level of parenting, a new one appears. With each age comes fresh challenges—and new reasons to question everything.

  • Level 1: Newborn Kingdom. 👶
    • Objective: Survive sleepless nights and diaper explosions.
    • Boss Fight: The Crying Castle—when nothing (not milk, not swaddling, not lullabies) will stop the tears.
    • Power-Up: Coffee. Endless, glorious coffee. Bonus points if it’s hot.
  • Level 2: Toddler Land. Featuring tantrum lava pits and the art of snack negotiations. 🤯
    • Objective: Outsmart a tiny human with infinite energy and zero patience.
    • Boss Fight: The Great Bedtime Showdown, featuring an army of stuffed animals that MUST be tucked in just right.
    • Power-Up: Snacks (for you and them). Nothing de-escalates a tantrum like crackers shaped like dinosaurs.
  • Level 3: Preschool World. 🎨
    • Objective: Encourage independence while navigating tiny power struggles.
    • Boss Fight: The Glitter Explosion—a battle to contain chaos when every activity seems to end in a sparkly mess.
    • Power-Up: Patience, empathy, and a stash of art supplies.

Personal Story: My Recent Boss Fight

Watching my children's personality shine is magical—until we hit the Leadership Showdown, where my four-years-old insists on always being the boss.

Recently, I walked out of a parent-teacher conference feeling like I’d just unlocked a hidden level I wasn’t ready for. The teacher pointed out two challenges: my daughter’s strong-willed nature (she always wants to lead) and her single-minded passion for art over other subjects like math or writing.

New Mission Unlocked: Teach turn-taking and Foster Curiosity

At first, I was overwhelmed. Was her strong personality normal? Or was it because she was modeling us? Was it…our fault? That night, I went full over-correct mode, sitting her down for spelling and math practice. But halfway through, I had to remind myself:

Parenting isn’t about cramming knowledge into their heads—it’s about nurturing curiosity and love for learning.

The emotional side was equally challenging. I started guiding her on how to be more empathetic with her younger brother. “How do you think he feels when you take over?” I’d ask. “Everyone playing the game needs to have a good time.” Watching her pause and think felt like a small victory.

Learnings: What Really Matters

Growing up, I experienced a lot of forceful education—weekly piano lessons I didn’t enjoy, but couldn’t quit. I don’t want my kids to go through that. When I reflect on what matters most, it’s not whether she loves math at four or can spell every word. It’s about fostering creativity, curiosity, adaptability, and emotional intelligence. These are the skills that truly shape a fulfilling life.

The Ultimate Takeaway: Keep Playing

The teacher’s feedback gave us a chance to improve, and working through these challenges has brought my husband and me closer as a team.

💡
Parenting, like any game, is about leveling up. There are always new challenges and boss fights, but also moments of triumph and joy.

So, to all my fellow players: What’s your hardest boss fight? Let’s swap power-ups and strategies. And remember, the only way to lose this game is to stop playing.
